Lee Canton Parks & Recreation offers a variety of campsite programs to help make the summer fun. Many camps fill rapidly, and so register early. Camps are offered on a weekly basis. Register for the camps that interest you, on the weeks that piece of work for you. Register online  or call (239) 533-7275.

Traditional Campsite (Completed kindergarten-5th form)

These camps offer a full day of excitement. They are the kind of camps you retrieve when you went to twenty-four hour period army camp. Twenty-four hour period camp activities include arts and crafts, sports, organized games, placidity play, h2o activities and outdoor activities. Safe is our number 1 concern, so our staff-to-camper ratio is 1-to-15. Some of our army camp locations take numerous outdoor activities, while others have a combination of both indoor/outdoor activities. Eye Schoolhouse Camp (sixth-8th form)

This is non your typical campsite! Center schoolers will participate in "non-traditional" activities geared towards their interest. Each army camp offers a variety of weekly themes in lodge to provide focus on a particular topic. Activities volition exist tied to the theme and will include indoor and outdoor activities, games and much more than.

Slough Secrets Military camp

Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve
Calendar week 2 (June twenty-24)

Campers feel boardwalk explorations, scavenger hunts, and other activities to find out how animals and plants work together to make the Slough such a special place.

Summer Naturalists

6 Mile Cypress Slough Preserve
Week 4 (July v-8)
8 a.m.-4:xxx p.one thousand. – $75 per child (ages 10-12)
Summertime Naturalists love searching for animals in the Slough. Campers learn nature awareness techniques to notice wild fauna, identify animal signs and empathise how their presence can influence animals behavior. Hands-on learning occurs in every session and volition include using binoculars, spotting scopes and artifacts. The week will culminate in a wet walk into the interior of the Slough.

Eco-Touring Camp

Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve
Week 5 (July 11-xv)
8 a.1000.-4:30 p.yard. – $100 per child (ages 12-15)
Campers volition travel via canton vans to various parks, preserves and refuges located within Lee Canton. This camp volition incorporate the natural beauty of our local upland, wetland and littoral dune ecosystems as outdoor classrooms. Experiential and easily-on activities volition be implemented to teach environmental sensation to campers.

Wilderness Explorers Camp

Calendar week 6 (July 18-22)
viii a.m.-four:xxx p.m. – $75 per child (ages 13-xvi)
Campers challenge themselves in the areas of tracking, brute study, awareness and primitive skills. Examples of skills include fiber twining, shelter building and fire past friction.

Art in Nature Camp

Week 7 (July 25-29)
viii a.m.-iv:thirty p.m. – $75 per kid (ages 10-12)
Campers will learn sensation techniques to build a connection between art and nature. We introduce art skills such as sketching, painting, photography, creative writing and more than.

Eco-Detectives Camp

Manatee Park
Calendar week 1 & Week 3 (June 13-17 & June 27- July 1)
9 a.chiliad.-4 p.m. – $75 per child (ages 8-12)  per week
Campers will spend the week learning most the many ecosystems represented in Manatee Park. They will proceed outdoor adventures including kayak trips. There will be speakers and activities that educate and inspire your camper to intendance for the earth effectually them

Lakes Park Exploration Military camp

7:30 a.g.-6 p.m. – $75 per child/calendar week (3rd-6th Class)
Campers volition have a full 24-hour interval of excitement and activities in this primarily outdoor camp at Lakes Park.

Special Needs Camps (Ages 6-21)

Camp Sunshine

These camps are designed for participants with special concrete and/or developmental delays. All potential special needs camp participants are required to consummate an assessment by the department'due south Special Needs staff in order to register. Call (239) 267-2181 to set up an interview. A copy of the participant'south IEP and behavior plan will exist needed before the interview takes place. Campers with varying disabilities have the opportunity to annals in the Special Needs summertime camp programs upon completion of the assessment. Working with the inclusion team, campers are ensured to have a successful and enjoyable summer camp.

Camp All-Star

These camps are designed for participants with special physical and/or developmental delays. All potential special needs camp participants are required to complete an assessment by the department's Special Needs staff in order to register. Phone call (239) 267-2181 to ready an interview. Counselors and Summer Staff

T o ensure your child has a safe and rewarding camp experience, each camp advisor is carefully called. They have passed a background check and must exist current in CPR/Start Aid.  All staff undergo an intense training that includes behavior management, prophylactic procedures, proper planning and programming skills, department standards and expectations. Camp counselors are trained to take the time to listen and assistance build your child's self-esteem and self-conviction. More than than 60 percent of summer staff has worked with Lee Canton Parks & Recreation for two to three years and in some cases, as many every bit vi to seven years. Summer Campsite Coloring Competition Winners

The Summertime Camp Coloring Competition is to celebrate and acknowledge July every bit National Parks & Recreation Month. The contest was broken upwards into five age groups; vi years and nether, 7-8 years old, 9-10 years old, 11-12 years one-time, and Heart School. Participants were judged on neatness, creativity and overall appearance. Congratulations to our winners last year!
