Burn the Witch (stylized every bit BURN ☩HE WITCH ) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. It was first published in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump as a one-shot affiliate in July 2018. A serialized continuation of the one-shot is being published in the same mag with a seasonal release schedule. The 4-chapter first flavour was published from Baronial to September 2020. A 2nd flavor of the manga has been announced. An anime film produced by Studio Colorido premiered in Oct 2020.

Synopsis [edit]

The story of Burn the Witch takes place in the Bleach universe and follows two witches, Noel Niihashi and Ninny Spangcole, working for the Western Branch of Soul Society, located in Reverse London.[2]

Manga [edit]

Burn down the Witch is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. A 62-pages one-shot was first published in the 33rd issue of Shueisha'southward Weekly Shōnen Jump on July 14, 2018.[9] In March 2020, it was appear that a miniseries would exist published in Weekly Shōnen Jump as a companion for the also announced moving-picture show.[10] [11] Burn the Witch's "first season" is a continuation of the ane-shot chapter, and ran in the Weekly Shōnen Spring for 4 weeks, from Baronial 24 to September 14, 2020.[12] [xiii] [14] A "second season" was appear with the release of the first season'southward final chapter.[14] [fifteen] [xvi] Shueisha published the series' first flavor in a 260-folio tankōbon volume, that included the 1-shot chapter, on October two, 2020.[17] [fourteen]

Viz Media published the one-affiliate in Weekly Shonen Jump on July 16, 2018.[18] Viz Media simultaneously released the English-linguistic communication version of the serial.[xix] In Feb 2021, Viz Media appear that they will release the first volume of Burn the Witch in English. It was published on Oct 19, 2021.[twenty] [21]

Film [edit]

In March 2020, it was announced that the series would receive an anime film adaptation by Studio Colorido, directed by Tatsuro Kawano.[3] [23] The film is distributed by Shochiku and premiered on October two, 2020 in Nihon.[24] [25] The theme vocal for the film is "Blowing", performed by Nil.[26] [27] The film also streamed in other territories outside Asia, with a dissimilar version from the Japanese theatrical release.[7] Crunchyroll streamed the moving-picture show in a three-episode format on Oct ane, 2020.[28] [29] Viz Media will release the serial on domicile video.[thirty] In Southeast Asia and South asia, Muse Communication has licensed the film and released it on YouTube.[31]

Mobile game [edit]

In October 2020, the series collaborated with mobile game Bleach: Brave Souls, featuring Ninny Spangcole and Noel Niihashi as playable characters. Brave Souls x Fire the Witch collaboration trade was also given out to 150 random people who interacted with the game's Twitter account.[32] A year subsequently, a 2nd round of the collaboration debuted, introducing Bruno Bangnyfe as a new character with the previous ii returning; it was followed past a tertiary round.[33]

Burn down the Witch 's offset book sold 86,066 print copies in its first week and 68,810 impress copies in its second week.[34] [35]

Skyler Allen of The Fandom Post wrote that despite lacking the same "spark" every bit Bleach 's beginning, the Burn the Witch 1-shot is nevertheless enjoyable and has plenty of potential for growth in a full serialization, merely too much time is spent on its setup to work as a standalone story. He had strong praise for Kubo'south art and memorable grapheme designs, but criticized the one-shot as "unfocused" for ideas that did not get properly fleshed out.[36]
